The issue is that they push for more and more and keep celebrating it despite the fact that the quickest way to normalcy and acceptance is to not make a spectacle of it. People aren't pretending gays don't exist when they don't bring it up in a show, they're just making a goddamn show. I don't need to see Jimmy gag on a ten inch meatpole to understand he's gay, you can just have his boyfriend pop for an episode or two but don't actually put a ton of focus on the fact that he has one, just have them act as normal people.
