It's just hyper-sympathy. Most of the women doing this aren't jealous harpies with no ulterior motives, most of the men aren't pathetic orbiters, and most of them are not doing it for clout. They over-sympathise with every tiny issue, no matter how slight or unimportant or ridiculous, because they're capable of hearing every voice in the world through the funnel of social media.
They'll over-sympathise for a lot of different reasons: either they're well-off and don't have any real challenges in their lives, or they've suffered in the past and see something of themselves in the issue at hand, or maybe they just want to root for the underdog.
Believing people do this kind of stuff out of selfishness or malice only feeds into one's own victim complex. In some cases it's probably true -- but more so than being bad actors in a selfish conspiracy, people are usually just people.
