You don't understand, the reality is that there's no way they spent only 300 million dollars on producing the movie, with massive reshoots it's reasonable to assume that they spent around 400 millions to just finish this sucker. Star Wars has a rabid fan base and is one of the most recognizable IP's in the western world, that is why Disney gave Lucas billions for it. But each shit film can turn people off an IP.

Batman vs Superman was terrible but it made nearly a billion on brand recognition alone, but it was so bad Justice League which was an ok movie made even less.

God, their entire review is just so out of touch, do they not have basic awareness, let alone self-awareness? It really reminded me of that time when Roger Ebert and Gene Siskel defended Empire Strikes Back against a douche critic who said children should be watching movies like Tender Mercies. Good movie for sure, but it's one you should be watching with shot of whiskey in my opinion, regardless, they are that critic right now in my opinion.

We're talking about narratives, though. Forces' narrative was bad, and while SA2's was better, I still wouldn't put it as "good", considering it's filled with plot points that are either never explained, badly conveyed, borderline nonsensical, or are ultimately just pointless and clearly only exist for gameplay purposes (i.e. the presence of GUN robots throughout the game)

There are only couple of blemishes he hasn't covered, for example, the big problem is Amy, because while GUN making Sonic a scapegoat makes a lot of sense, what doesn't make sense is that Amy is the one who confused Shadow for Sonic too. Though, if you look into early character designs for Shadow you can kind of see why.

Him coming up with headcanons to explain away plotholes just goes back to a number of the narrative's plot points being badly conveyed, though. Being able to explain something doesn't make a narrative instantly good, presentation is still a key part of a narrative's quality.

Personally I would prefer it if after that movie helped to establish the human element, the second movie would be primarily set in Sonic's original world.
Reestablish the island where he is from as Moebius, perhaps establish elements of the conflict with the echidnas and help bring Robotnik into this world as a secondary villain

Second movie is likely going to be Sonic 2 and introduce the Chaos Emeralds

We'll get stuff like Super Sonic, Mecha Sonic (unless they jump straight to metal) and the like.

Then if that does good and this movie series reaches Transformers tier in terms of quantity we will get Master Emerald and Knuckles in the third movie.

The thing is, how to explain the speeding power of Sonic and why the heck he was hunted down by the Echidnas for it.

We got Sonic the Hedgehog already
Next movie will be titled Sonic 2: Chaos Emeralds, introduce Tails, Metal Sonic, Amy, and Super Sonic
Then, we'll have Sonic 3: & Knuckles, giving us Knux, Master Emerald, all that shit
If that is a success, we get Sonic Adventure, giving us Chaos, but it's also partially a heist movie in tone, trying to get the Chaos Emeralds before Chaos can

The corporate dipshits knew all along that the original design was gonna piss fans off, but they assumed the general public wouldn't care (probably right) but soon changed their minds after the massive backlash online and made a bunch of animators do crunch time to fix their stupid decision (said studio that fixed it ended up closing because I guess animating for a major movie isn't enough to stay in business I guess)

It gives them too much credit to assume they were playing 4D chess with it.
