It has the same issues that K.O. had, when the creators grow up looking up to Shonen anime and 80 action cartoons and absorb only the worst of both genres, having nothing to actually show other than "le funny self aware moments" here and there.
Say whatever you want about SU and Adventure Time, but you can distinguish how these series feel.
