>>113057684It's partly that they all have the same over-over-simplified expression (compare to the other version), but mainly that she went out of her way to not draw any of the male cat's arms (or bestdog's hands, how amateur can you get?). Because she wasn't thinking about the structures underneath the blankets (that would be effort), all their shoulders became too narrow, and there's no implication of where their arms would be, giving the impression that they're built like pic related.
The totally plain background confuses the perspective, it looks like a wall directly behind them which would imply they propped up their pillows against the wall and are leaning against it with their heads and shoulders propped up to face the 'camera', but their poses imply they're lying flat on their backs, with the 'camera' hovering directly above them, which would mean the blank space behind them is a carpet (?), which also doesn't look right because the bed should cast a shadow if that was the case (the slight white glow along the edge of the bed looks like the pale bedding reflecting light onto a hard surface pressed against it, like a wall).
It's also clear she isn't sure how bestdog's ears interact with something pressing against them, so she just fudged it.
