It doesn’t work when 10 adult superheroes who have serious or intense professions are all doing it at the same time. I even think Infinity War and Endgame, as defended as they are, were borderline awful because of it. Thanos, while not Starlin’s version, made for a very compelling villain with great dialogue, but everyone around him going “Tee hee muh Hulk rocky road” really kills any grandiose feeling they tried to convince you was there.
Shazam gets a pass because it’s organic to the story it is telling, and even helped to contrast Billy and Sivana in terms of who they become and how they look at having power.
