Well, there isn't a huge variety gameplay wise so I tend to just go with my favourite characters. That usually means my party consists of The Punisher, Moon Knight and Blade, with the fourth slot being subject to change

It's objectively not great but I had fun with it. Definitely much funner with friends than with computers. Also, their alt costume game is on point. My team is Spider-Gwen, Nightcrawler, Hulk, and Wasp.

I bought it and enjoyed it, though i will say i'm hopping the final dlc has a good extra mode, all of the files are pointing to actual extra locations so i hope it's true, also nice that the game sold over a million copies, and Koei Tecmo expressed surprise over the sales numbers, so we might get a MUA4 soon enough, hopefully they build upon the foundation set here and bring back more RPG elements and costumes.

I was really excited for the game, bought the dlc pass day 1. While I found a lot to like about it, I felt like the game was quite shallow. Each character only has 4 moves limiting player choice in how to use them, there are no combo real combo moves between characters, the skins are needlessly grinds to unlock and there were some questionable roster decisions. All in all I don’t think it’s necessarily bad, but fell well short of what it could have been.

I feel like a big problem with a lot of these modern takes on the formula is that they wind up being too much about fighting trash mobs. MH was the same way. The old Diablo games certainly had no shortage of mobs and were light on puzzles but I feel like they weren't just mindless clock fests either

I think the problems are really to do with controlling what the player does, building to set piece cutscenes, limiting progression and trying to sell fucking DLC. None of which was really a major thing in older games.

The trailers tell you everything you need to see. The animation frame rate doesn't work. Miles isn't interesting enough to stand out among his team. Gwen has a side cut. I've seen these same complaints from people who have seen the movie. I feel like my life is slightly better for not having watched it. Also female Doc Ock looks like a tranny, but of course /co/ loved that.

At this point, based on the datamines, the only likely candidates for extra characters are the
Inhumans, since they actually added lines of Xavier talking about them for the new Danger Room mode (like how he has lines for all the other teams in the game). Still seems unlikely overall though especially since we have the slots for the remaining characters and the datamined lines for the next DLC's story don't mention them.

Visually it is great, but the level of grinding the game demands is just outright terrible and I quit just after Wakanda.

1 is a little dated since it only has 12 characters and the story ends at Marineford War.
2 and 3 though are great. Every character plays different and feels very unique. 2's story is a what if and has a lot of maps from 1. 3 is another telling of the story but it covers more than what 1 does and goes up to a made up end of Dressrosa.
If you want to play them just get 3.

You get Kamala pretty early. Psylock about 1/2 way through, I think.

They're separate from the main story. You have to complete challenge gauntlets that have 3-4 stages ranging from level 25 to 40. Cyclops and Colossus are in the Infinity Rift though.

They’re bottom of the barrel characters, with a very mediocre book, whose only contribution is creating a bunch of villains that massively overtook them in popularity and went on to become parts of the wider MU all by themselves. Yeah, it can take a bit to get through. There's like, 10 levels, and you stop picking characters up around the time you hit Wakanda.
For the DLC characters, you have to unlock them via their individual little gauntlets, which don't have any cutscenes or any story beyond small text blurbs. It can take a couple of tries, but some of the characters like Blade are worth it.
All I know is that once I got my boy Ghost Rider, he never left the party.

I don't disagree, but if I was in charge of my own Marvel property, like I was a lead writer for a game or a cartoon, I'd switch them out with legacy characters that took over the team. Have Sue retire to take care of her kids, then Johnny dies but for real this time, then Reed retires over the course of the story to spend more time with his family. I'd probably keep the Thing though, because he's the rock that holds the team together.

I was planning on it, I really loved UA2 and I watched all the character trailers for this and just kinda....

First pack comes out and the "story content" is another grindy slapped together difficulty setting that adds nothing. Next pack comes out and it just adds the Danger Room which is the same low effort shit we were getting in the crystal challenges. Couldn't even be assed to slap together a single chapter worth of content for each pack.

As someone who was really excited I can't recommend it to anyone. It's so fucking lazily done compared to the first two games. UA2 basically cut the content of UA1 in half but still added some cool things but UA3 basically cuts that content in half again and dispenses with some of the actual good parts of UA2. The game peaked with UA1 and you're better off going back to the that or the X-Men Legends games.

She's got this one weird bear with antlers form that I think is supposed to be her strongest

And she's can manipulate light energy on a very minor level, she creates an aurora borealis for a bit of a light show. But she hasn't used it offensively. Although on a cover I think I've seen her turn that light into rainbow-y angel energy wings for herself

The focus on comedy and the artstyle makes it feel much more marketed to kids than the first two. Plus with the roster, and the color of the stones, it definitely feels more like MCU Ultimate Alliance. Am not in a situation to have a regular Switch, but a handheld suits me great. I bought two games on launch, Mario Oddsey, and MUA3. I played MUA3 first and it was just blurry, could barely see what was happening, and then no hero really felt unique to play, most the same, and seeing the end game was just grinding challenge rooms, eh.
