That's one thing I noticed about the new 10's, that despiste it being the era of the "inclusiveness" and "diversity", there was next to zero new disabled characters (fuck, some characters like Batgirl even got uncrippled), while in the 90's, despiste being the rad era, you couldn't throw a rock without hitting a cripple.

This is only tangentially related, but why aren't there more good-aligned cyborgs in Star Wars? The only major one that comes to mind is Luke, but his robo-hand was mostly a metaphor for him slipping to the dark side. Hans Christen Andersen meant for TLM to be cautionary tale, but in the film she is rewarded.

He never claimed that. John Callahan had his spinal cord severed in a car accident as a young man and in spite of it made a career as a cartoonist. He wanted to make a show about a handicapped boy as it was something he had never seen before, but his famous dark humor which he used to cope with his shitty life was not acceptable to the network which made it into forgettable children's show.
