She had a larger role in an earlier version. She was going to be a pop singer that was fighting against the injustice of the system, and the Sheep (disguised as Wolves) were going to attack her and frame predators at a big concert, in a climax.
>>112907522>As with everything else about the early version of the movie, that sounds way more interesting than what we ultimately got."Interesting," maybe, but there's a whole line of people that were working at Disney at the time who were up-front about the fact that it just wasn't turning out "enjoyable." The project started as a James Bond-esque espionage thing about a spy flying around to exotic islands and having underwater battles and shit, but everyone went "hang on, that city at the very start of the story, where animals live together? That's the interesting bit." So they tried to make it about the city, and all those dark edgy and yes "interesting" ideas about shock collars were just so over the top the staff (and the folks at Pixar they brought in to look through the early draft) were finding themselves hating the city and wanting it to burn, not get "redeemed." The shock collar storyline was just so anvilicious and dark that people weren't enjoying it, and if the folks making the movie aren't even liking the story, stuff that's more "interesting" but less enjoyable will go straight in the trash.
Obviously there's room for movies that are not enjoyable at all, but still tell stories that need to be told, but if everyone signed up to do the next Disney's Robin Hood, that's not the best place to go grimdark.
