>>112677963I usually give new shows 5~6 episodes minimum to develop. This hasn't done anything for me yet, while Amphibia hooked me in the first episode. The problems seem related to the directing, and unlike a slow plot, that's something that doesn't often improve with time. There's no punch to the action, drama, or comedy, and there's no charisma between Luz and Edna. Without the darker setting, this could easily be a Disney Jr. show.
Speaking of the setting, Amphibia had a clear theme that was cleverly realized. Infinity Train, a show I couldn't finish, still had a strong setting that was intriguing, moody, with easily understood limits. Owl House is detailed and rich on the surface, yet broad and generic at the same time.
All that said, Ducktales 2017 managed to become something interesting by season 2. Owl House might be like that, but I'm not sure I'm willing to wait when better options full of energy and adventure are already available.
