The SATs occur only on certain dates each year and this comic's current story takes place in 2008.

That means this chapter is taking place on November 1st. One day after the previous chapter. The alternative is that it's skipped more than a month to December and yet isn't depicting any late autumn scenery such as snow.

This comic will spent more than a year depicting two days of time, and only small parts of those two days at that.

The purpose of the test is to provide to colleges as part of application (though each college is free to consider it as much or as little as they like) so usually it will be taken in the last year of high school. This is why Jordan and Augustus are taking it. Daisy is taking it in her junior year as a safety; if she did poorly she could just take it again the next year and the new score would override the old. Lucy is probably taking it just to be emotional support to Augustus.

The school doesn't administer the test; it's done by an independent company, although it's been so integrated into the course of things that schools will host the exam-taking itself, as happened here.

Those are SATs, not finales.
If it's anything like what I do in my country (and I'm pretty sure it is) these tests are basically meant to judge how well you do academically and are used to enter universities.
So if you're not planning on going to uni you can forsake SATs all together, or if you're planning on starting it later you can take them (or retake them) later.
SATs are their own, generic thing, separate from the specific highschool, that's why they went to a different highschool.

I'd legitimately be ok with this if I could be sure it'd be written well. One big issue is that the comic seems to be acting like Lucy's improved herself as much as she needs to, but she still has a lot of flaws. It's just that Mike is the only one who seems to be effected by them in the long term, everyone else just gets over it eventually. So with current Lucy it would be a bad endgame. If she's allowed to have character development, it could be nice.

It's a big country and the federal government didn't use to put its fingers in everywhere. The test predates this and was a way to offer a standardized assessment of students; useful to colleges who don't want to enroll a student only for them to drop out or be expelled for poor performance.

It's not even anime tropes anymore. This is basically the most watered-down version of shitty sitcoms middled-aged white people love.

May as well have a laugh-track echoing when Paulo walks into 'frame'.

Instead of actually making the story interesting,having stakes or even the most remote of character development, we get bullshit like this that only proves the webcomic is on life-support and they have no new ideas for it what so ever.

Pretty much failed to stick the landing with every single dramatic moment thus far too.

And Paulo with the carnival getting cut short for a trivial anime gag of Paulo getting over it in 0.5 seconds because SLAY LUCY SLAY

It's so weird how the plot thread of Lucy treating all of her old friends like shit just vanished. Suddenly she's all jokes and smiles with people she was never very friendly with. She spent all of volume 1 being aloof and grumpy and the rest of the series until she left obsessing about Mike.
