I know fanart is typically better than MOST cartoons, but, it seems funny to me that in the case of SU a lot of it's fans claim the show has the best animation on CN at the moment, yet all you ever see posted is fanart. Like 99% of SU content is reaction pics and fanart. But apparently the animation is 'soooooo good'. W
Weird, most really good shows have lots of really good screencaps from said show. What are some essential screencaps from SU episodes? Iconic moments NOT exaggerated in fanart?

I don't watch SU anymore, but if I had to describe Steven's personality it'd be this:
Despite being a kind, joyous young soul with lots of energy, he's forced to constantly question himself due to his past which he has little control over. Because of the fact he's naturally inclined to be nervous when making big decisions, this turns him more emotionally distressed and even angry/sad sometimes because of his inability to be decisive choices regarding his friends.
Basically, he's a big baby turned chosen one. An age old story done literally 5000 times already.

he's basically a child soldier enlisted in a war that his mother started and all of her sins got placed squarely on his shoulders. he had to deal with all this shit at the age of what, 10? 12? not to mention all of the shit he has to deal with from the crystal gems placing all of their hopes and dreams on him because he's the reincarnation of his alien mother. his story is a little more nuanced than your typical chosen one, surprisingly enough.

Hahaha WHAT? Maybe on /r/Steven_Universe. The most persistent thread of discussion in any SU thread here on /co/ is complaining about how lackluster the animation is, outside of a few key scenes that shine even brighter in comparison because the regular animation is so lackluster.

Between helping the diamonds for two years, the movie, and the end of Part 1 of SUF (which is about a year or so going by seasons of weather and plant growing time) Steven realizes that no one needs him anymore.

As someone who grew up forsaking his own feelings by playing therapist to everyone else, it's damaged his mindset.

He thought that with his problems lut if the way he'd have a happy ending. But the gems don't need him, Connie is away for an indefinite time due to school, Lars is going back to space, the townies are now adults and moving away.

Steven is all alone. Everyone's got something going for them but him.

Steven should really just take up his mom's throne at this point so he has an actual job. He can't get a human one since he's never been in actual schooling.

Turns out having to shoulder everyone's burdens and mental problems as a 13 year old will mess you up 4 years later.

How would corrupt/semi-corrupt Steven's personality be different from his regular one? Aside from having an explosive temper. I feel like he'd be more charismatic and confident, but he'd stop being laid-back and jokey like he usually is. It's not even that he'd be edgy exactly. I don't know if this has been pointed out anywhere yet, but I like that SUF's theme song is cacophonous and discordant in comparison to the original series' very positive-sounding and harmonious one. Steven is getting to feel more and more isolated. We haven't seen the Diamonds yet in the new show, so I think he's going to travel to Homeworld to talk to the only people who know what it feels like to, well, be a Diamond.

But, just like with Pink, they will just not understand him. We have seen his touch can affect other gems; when he fought Jasper, his touch caused her to glow pink, but it didn't seem to affect her otherwise; but that might be because she is always angry anyway.

Paradoxically, if this is indeed some kind of "emotion forcing effect", White may be more vulnerable to it than any other being in the universe; as you see, she seems to be screaming.

I can imagine him getting angrier and angrier as she remains cool and aloof, until he's like "I WISH YOU COULD FEEL SOMETHING!!" and then, of course, she does...
