>>112643092how come it didn't occur to anybody that maybe PowerPuff Girls was not in need of a reboot?
of course at the end of the day this is WB's call and 4chan's opinions don't matter but I still think the reboot/revival/whatever was ill-conceived from the start. do you remember what the original Powerpuff Girls was like? it was a complete hodge-podge of concepts, gags, parodies, pop culture references and the ocasional 3 act story structured episode, to me PPG was never a show that had a clear idea of what it wanted to be but what it wanted to have, fitting that it was Craig's first time helming a show for a big network and he really wasn't that good at it (Fosters and Wander are proof that he's gotten better at managing his own projects). Powerpuff Girls was kind of mediocre but it was one of the first CN originals and the show is way more enjoyable in retrospect due to the references flying over a kid's mind radar.
therein lies the problem with the new PPG. remember how the movie and the anime tried to actually make a coherent story out of the concept of the Powerpuff Girls and they were terrible? this is happening with the new show, it's trying to build a story when there's no narrative structure, the girls just have powers and that's it. to me PPG worked better as satire of the superhero genre and pop culture than a real show with a plot and a manifesto of female empowerment.
also Ms. Bellum wasn't a good character and she definitely wasn't conceived as a role model for the girls because what kind of female hero is the one whose design tells you to focus on her body and not her face.
