Gave it a serious tone problem where a moment painted to be serious/dramatic was instantly mitigated by a dumb joke or quip.
I don't mind humor in action cartoons but theres are ways to do it that don't make it feel like the cartoon has ADD.
That coupled with Butch retconning that ghosts were not spirits of dead people, but just inter-dimensional entities, made the show feel weird. Despite the fact at least two of the ghosts in season 1 were stated to have been once living human beings.
Like for a show about ghosts, they really went out of their way to sidestep death as a concept.
