OK KO had charming characters that were meant to work within their crazy world of stupid animation meta jokes.
Thunder Cats was a stupid toy commercial excuse of a show with little more interesting things about it than the character designs.
Which this iteration completely bombed.
So now it's all just hyperactive webtoon-level animation with jokes even lamer and more hokey than the original show.
So it's like OK KO without the personality and love for the medium, or Wander Over Yonder without the heart and style, or talent.
Regarding the latest show starts:
IF S02 is not earth shattering after the first one, but it uses the meta knowledge from the first time around to tell a compelling story and even asking questions about what reality and personhood mean.
Owl House: It's rough in many ways, but it is actually funny and surprising at times. I can see myself watching more. There's talent here and the only way to cultivate talent is doing things more.>>112484919
Which is still a functioning show with characters, who have actual faces rather than emojis plastered on their heads.
I can't say if 6yos like Roar, but the IP is completely wasted on them, anyway.
She-Ra is watchable by adults, if not particularly good or challenging.
So they can and do work some with the IP. Which was never a great one, let's be honest.
I mean, there is such a thing as a world with a society now. That is a good thing.
Not just random buildings on solid colors with copy/paste non-animated characters. Who are ALL buttmonkeys.
