>>112458213>The Complicated-- Character Designs. Some character designs in this show are great, and far superior to those of the original - Catra, Shadow Weaver, Hordak, Entrapta, etc. Some are good, like Adora's, and then some are really shit. Glimmer looks like an angry gumdrop until she gets her redesign. She-Ra is a design I don't like but in practice how good it looks seems to depend on the storyboarders.
-- Worldbuilding. The conceptual nature of the world as being full of these ruins that actually are worked into its ecosystem is cool, and this is demonstrated often. But the show is fucking terrible at making the places and organizations in that world feel real. The characters of the Horde and the Alliance get great development, but those things themselves do not.
-- Animation. The quality of the animation varied a lot. It's never actually bad, it always works technically, and sometimes it even goes into real overdrive and looks great. But those times are rare and it's generally just unimpressive.
>The Bad-- Pacing: FUCK this show's pacing. Fuck it to infinity and beyond. There is almost no sense of the passage of time. Things are either too slow or too fast. Elements are introduced and either resolved too easily or strung out for so long that everyone forgets about them. Shit, shit, shit.
-- Consistency. The show has terrible problems with this. Shit moves around scenes, changes colour, or even changes shape, willy nilly. There's an episode where Catra is tied up and the type of bonds she's tied with change THREE TIMES for no reason. Shit moves off model all the time.
-- Fight Choreography. It's a shame, because there are moment where this is great, like when corrupted Adora is dunking on Catra. But for the most part it's simplistic and boring.
