The Crescians are fantasy communists and do have female equality - but all the frontline women soldiers we've seen are golem tank operators and or mages.
Knock me-down is shown as a female fighter/enforcer but she's up to her tits on magic steroids, and looks it. And was shown to be clearly weaker than the similarly roided out Toby.
And considering what a fujo Ashley is, there's a surprising lack of gay relationships. I'm amazed Bastion is shown to be mostly straight.
