>>112276465Indian here, there's actually a great reason we don't produce anything /co/-wise. That is we don't even have a good internal market. India is largely poor as shit and even those who do have a good living standard it's basically the living standard of twenty years ago for Europeans and Americans. EG if a family has a TV they have one TV, if they have internet and computers unless they're rich they have weak internet and one computer, and everyone lives with their families that's just how we do it. As a result studios would do FAR better just buying cartoons from Japan and America and dubbing them.
That's another thing actually, language. Imagine a studio in Mumbai wants to make a cartoon for India, they make in in Marathi but now they have to go to studios all over the fucking country and would probably have to bribe them each to dub them in their languages. You remember how most families either don't have a TV or have just one and live communally? That means it's hard to actually gauge how many people are watching. We could have 2 million TVs tuned to a show and realistically could have around 12 million views, but i could also just be 4 million so we never truely know how valueable the ad space is so advertisers would be weary for a while causing the show to suffer. Whereas if a studio just wanted to dub Shin-Chin to Marathi they just need some VAs and a studio. But if they somehow pulled this off would they wanna stream it outside of India? India is the most culturally diverse country in the world. I don't think a show about someone in, say, Maharashtra would connect with someone just in Tamil Nadu or something, let alone Texas or whatever.
