I think part of that is due to the pacing, in seven episodes we got what would usually by stretched out for two seasons, (our at least a full 20 episode season). It's pacing makes it so that something enjoyable and worth the watch comes along at least once per episode. It also helps that the music is pretty good, the voice acting is way better than expected, and the setting is reasonably flexible enough to allow for some fun, wacky, nonsense.
Of course, the animation isn't really all that there, but you get used to it pretty quickly, and it's not like it's hard to use your imagination to fill in the gaps. I will say, the gap in animation between the usual format and the actually animated scenes does help give the latter a lot more weight and impact, which is a plus.
Soundtrack is also pretty good as well. All in all, 7/10, pretty damn good for a first time youtube animator on a shoe string budget.
Also, if any of you anons want watch the series on youtube, you get little blerbs at the end of the episode where molly tries to sell vrv to you, very adorable.
