the earth government of steven universe has always been aware that aliens exist (even in earlier history) and individuals have been discovering alien architecture for centuries, with direct interaction from a relatively benign (to humans) splinter civilization /rebel group acting as guides and allies to repel the more hostile gem incursions.
also, having a massive fuck-you chunk of russia ceasing to exist at some point certainly altered trade routes and migration, which in turn completely modified who got to live and who got to die in the course of history beyond that point. (and all the random humans who got killed by dumbass pre-rebellion gems)
