If the father tells him Santa isn't real (which in the first panel it does), then he definitely would grow to be one of these retard "libertarians" who value money over everything and would preach exactly the same bullshit as his father, but then on the second panel it implies the father doesn't do that and instead assumes he'll learn on his own.
There's of course that other layer of bullshit in which this outright ignores the tradition is mainly Christian so this cold hard realism is a perpetuation of the conservative hypocrisy in which the rich tell others to pull themselves by the bootstraps and stop thinking things can be obtained for free, while getting tax breaks and bailouts.
