>>111962851not who you're responding to but the way i see it is the degree of synchronization within mind, body and intention between gems. The greater the agreement on how things should look and act the more standardized the gem will look, until you get to Garnet tier where the only difference is the count of eyes. The obvious and "best" fusions are the ones between the same type of gem, since they share the exact same personality and thus agree on how everything should look and act, including number of eyes.
- Bluebird looks like a fucking mess because Aquamarine and Ruby-Eyeball have fused for no reason other than hurting Steven. Even if they did agree, they would agree to not give a fuck, just HURT STEVEN.
- The fused Jades look almost normal besides the multiple eyes (different ways of seeing things) and the odd arm conjoinment (starting at different places but arriving at the same end)
- Malachite i believe is using a pair of arms as forelimbs for quadruped motion, which is a good way to demonstrate something is fundamentally being used "wrong" in the fusion.
- Flourite is a group of gems who have been chased through the tunnels of Homeworld for an unknown period of time and likely fused due to that trauma. Fused to the max; giving up your arms or even defining forms and colors, just so you can concentrate on using your legs to run. Just to survive. Being Flourite IS being suffering.
- Rhodenite has multiple arms and multiple eyes, but the color scheme seems to be a monochromatic agreement and the outfit has some traits of both a Ruby and a Pearl. (The multiple arms may simply be a height difference thing)
