>>111939983That reminds me of a friend I had. She had BPD, but refused to go to therapy for the stupidest of reasons (one time she told me and our friends that she disliked the construction noises in the therapist's office.)
The longer she refused help the worse she got. She had constant mood swings, even the smallest things set her off. You couldn't vent with her, only she could. She frequently scared us with suicide attempts.
Eventually enough was enough and me and another friend ditched her. We knew this was gonna set her off, but we were too jaded to give a shit. She had her issues, and she suffered, but her unwillingness to get help caused us emotional turmoil too.
Thankfully she eventually got help, and apparently is much better now, but damn if our friendship wasn't painful due to her sttuborness. Dealing with someone who's both mentally ill and refusing to get help is one of the worst things to deal with. It's like you said, we're not the therapists, yet we have to endure the person wasting away due to their own choice. Eventually you need to care about yourself and ditch them.
