Trump got free publicity because he's a ratings dynamo. The 2015-2016 primary and election was a ratings free for all for all of the 24 hour news networks, everything that Trump did brought in viewers and not just people that supported him. They didn't care if he won or lost because, as you point out, Hillary Clinton was supposed to win, and would ALSO lower taxes on billionaires. They won either way, they either got someone that will lower taxes on the billionaires because he's a billionaire, or someone that will lower taxes on the billionaires because she belongs to them.
And we all backed Hillary, despite her being a shitty candidate, because she was the only person running in the general election that could beat Trump. And besides, Jill Stein and Gary Johnson are both idiots. There was no good choice in the 2016 general election, Clinton was just the least bad.
Corporate media is controlled opposition, because it gives the appearance of being opposed to Trump while not actually discussing any of the actually bad shit he's doing. No one's talking about the enormous amount of money he's added to the debt, the millions hurt by his fucking with the Affordable Care Act, the damage done to Costa Rica, or any of the other negative shit he's done. No one's interviewing Rojavans, betrayed by Donald Trump and left to be slaughtered by Turkey. It's just an illusion, just the appearance of opposition. Jeff Bezos and Tim Apple will personally campaign for Trump when Bernie takes the Democratic nomination. Because they're rich scumbags, and the only thing that rich scumbags actually believe in, is keeping their money. For Christ's sakes, have you not noticed that climate change has broken the weather, and the billionaire class doesn't care? It would've cost 90 million dollars to replace the pipes in Flint, which would've saved an untold amount of people, and they didn't care.
