>>111689589maybe i fell for the thin outlines meme but r&m isn't crude in an appealing way. it's actually not too different from macfarlane-type designs, R&M just compensates it with aliens and such (like your pic) for a wider array of designs. do you genuinely find any of the human characters appealing? some of them stray from the template like goldenfold but it's not emphasized enough to be interesting.
> Rick and Morty one of the most visually stunning adult cartoons of all time.i'm not going to act like R&M has no visual merit but you're off your rocker. R&M's strength is backgrounds and varied character types, and i'll take the L for not clarifying that the character design is ugly, everything else is at least adequate.
>The alien designs are all unique and creativei don't hate the alien designs but half the time i wish they were drawn in a different artstyle.
>or 99% of all female designs. the fuck
>You seriously mean to tell me last week's episode wasn't a visual splendor?i was bored with last week's episode but i remember liking the wide shot of earth trapped in the matrix, i don't remember being particularly impressed with finger-girl's design or whatever. if that's enough for you then more power to you but R&M's character design has never impressed me. maybe it's the puppet rigs or the thin outlines but this doesn't cut it for me. if you want good examples of crude artstyles, klasky-csupo is a great example. the characters are drawn/drafted in a way that's engaging and takes advantage of the crudeness. i have no doubt that R&M artists take pride in their work and if the show had a more "polished" artstyle it would probably be expensive as fuck and take even longer to animate but a spade's a spade.
