>>111674292Mel Blanc being the main voice guy is probably part of it, but I think another factor is that the writers/directors/animators were all guys. Yeah there were women working at the studio, but not as closely involved with actually creating the main ideas and characters of the cartoons. And while I'm not saying guys can't/won't write female characters, if they're trying to portray a character as an everyman or put them in situations relatable to themselves or the expected audience, they're likely inclined to make the main character male as well.
Also: probably the idea that slapstick works better/would be seen as less painful and more funny when happening to a guy.
Also also: a lot of the existing female characters were girlfriends/love interests for the male protagonists, and you don't always want your protagonist tied to a love interest. So it's easier to leave them out and/or make them just one-time characters so the audience isn't expecting X's girlfriend to regularly show up.
And yeah a lot of generalizations here; not trying to account for every single cartoon they ever made.
