His whole character in Boom is that he is an asshole for no reason. He tries to destroy the universe because he finds everyone mildly annoying.

I would of argued that sonic adventure one was the end not the downfall. Sonic adventure 2 however was the start to the end. And it went downhil from there.

Don't forget the game Shadow the Hedgehog existed. The fact that he cocked a SMG is going to follow him forever. Y'know like how you said and did some dumb things as a kid and your parents and other friends insist on keep bringing it up as if you never grew up from that.

Good Music, cool as fuck set pieces, actually took advantage of side characters, serviceable gameplay

Nah, I'd say they're perfectly rated. People would like them more if the controls didn't suck so much.

I mean, on paper the gameplay of the storybooks games should be incredibly hard to screw up (spectacle-based arcade autorunner), but Sega still managed to find a way to make them unenjoyable.

The cartoon and Rise of Lyric started off as unrelated projects, until Sega decided to put them both under the "Boom" umbrella partway into the development of each in an attempt to reboot Sonic in the west. The game was always intended to be a more grounded, adventure-based experience, with the show always intended to be comedy-focused.

The most gullible man on the planet, that keeps getting written dumber and dumber as the series goes on, and they decide to make him the man in charge and the strategist. That's almost as bad as Silver jobbing and being useless throughout Forces. Like how the fuck, Silver should be the MAIN fighter since he's legit the only character that has any kind of power that can match Infinite and overpower the robots.

I think SEGA made them make Shadow a villain again. Keep in mind the Boom Crew hands where tied on the development of this show.
In any case, I think he works as a parody of what Shadow is, or at least how fans who think he's "cool" and "edgy" see him as.
And considering how idiotic he has been in the past games and IDW comics, this Shadow isn't that far off from the canon one. At least this one is a full villain who revels in his evil instead of a boring anti-hero who is an asshole to everyone

Not really. Sonic is probably the closest, but most of his shit are just bracelets. Shadow's upgrades aren't that noticeable, and Rouge just has stuff on her boots and wears a small scope thing.

Fully upgraded Knuckles just looks ridiculous.

You forget that he was edgy in Shadow The Hedgehog. The whole reason why he was edgy initially was because he was bent on avenging Maria, but when that was gone his whole personality changed. The only reason why he reverted back despite it contradicting the story is because fans would complain that it's not Shadow.

This portrayal was a bit weird. Right after the game where he's made out to be the descendant of a Mayan-like culture he is treated like a black guy with his stage themes and gear. Also unrelated but why was Knuckles in the desert when he was supposed to be in Angel Island? His character in that game was distracting.

Ya know how the game does that thing where if you save and quit, the character does a little first-person recap of whats happening so far? If you quit during Knuckles' first level, his recap tells you that Rouge swiped the emerald and Knuckles chased her to a desert.
