Just finished episode 5. Wtf happened? Is t Tex lady really dead? Either way the last two episodes were great, and before watching them I was worried it wouldn’t be a very good show.

Also I liked the happy moments of Ep.5, (especially the part where Spear roars that he killed the horrible worm for Fang) hopefully we get a happy end to this tale.

Wonder if someone could draw Fang being scared of a worm.

One of my very favorite things about the show is the way it shows how different Spear and Fang are, yet they care for each other in spite of that. Especially on Fang's side. She's a reptile and she's less intelligent than Spear, so there are multiple moments in the show where she just doesn't fucking understand Spear and how he thinks. Like the entire experience Spear has with the mammoths.

Yet, in spite of her not understanding so much about him, it's clear she cares for him. The scene where they leave footprints on the beach is genuinely very moving. She definitely values him as a living thing.

I found it kind of out of place they way Fang tried to climb the mountain repeatedly when clearly it was bloody hopeless for her. Then gaining 500 points in evolutionary intelligence by faking death and getting extremely precariously carried up to the nest. At least the required suspension of disbelief was a bit bigger than I'd hoped.

I think Fang trying to climb the mountain was more due to her not having the means to invent tools. Like Spear might've used some sharp rocks to stab into the side and mountaineer up, but a dinosaur pretty much has [use legs] for options.

Sure, I guess? I was more into the whole thing of animals giving up and doing other things rather than bash their heads against the impossible and just pulling something pretty unthinkable with a peanut brain to overcome it. Their emotional bond, fang using her senses and letting spear ride her are things that I feel you can just roll with but this particular scenario was way above the rest in animal brain capacity. Remember, she didn't just fake death like other animals do but she did it to specifically get carried away in a extremely high risk maneuver while hoping the bats don't find out mid air and drop her 50m.

I did think you meant it was weird how stupid she was being at first. But still I think doing a high risk maneuver doesn't necessitate a particular intelligence. There's suppressing the fear instincts, but Fang was also desperate to save Spear.

I could buy it, since playing dead is actually not uncommon in the animal kingdom. As a hunter, Fang at least feels resourceful enough to find different ways to approach prey so it didn't seem like much of a stretch for her to figure that out.

Hardly. I got the impression that one's just as smart as the other. Monkey man uses tools to get the job done and is more agile while Fang can't do any of that.

I didn't get that feeling at all. They're the closest thing to family that they have at that point. It makes perfect sense that she would try her damnedest to climb up that mountain. Faking her death was perfectly in character. I think you guys are trying too hard to see these characters as something more than their cartoon characters. Everyone is unga-bunga, but they're smart enough for the world that they exist in.

This show didn't leave much of an impression on me other than Fang being precious. It was okay but it was mostly just moderately entertaining action setpieces. I hope the hype doesn't completely fall away by the time the rest of the season comes out.
