Also, really decadent animation that verges on pornographic. There's one 4-5 second scene where a tree wets Guy and Sam that will cause even the most avid cartoon lover to wrinkle their nose at its sheer excess. Very blank check. It is the meme dream of those 4chan "if you had a boatload of cash to spend on your coveted project" actualised into reality. It is the cartoon standard people are thinking about when they envision making their own cartoons; the bare minimum level of quality that some artists have actually DIED trying to maintain or exceed. No off-model embarassments, no abuse of the 3/4 angle, no over-reliance on shot-reverse shot, no awkward silences to pad out the run time, barely any outright walk cycles. This adaptation has, in short, THE PACKAGE:
-smorgasbord of settings (some of which only appear for 1-2 scenes)
-cavalcade of "camera angles". We're talking overhead, dynamic profiles, sudden shifts of perspective
-stunt casting VAs that don't phone it in
-mountains of action moments
-shading, lighting, real color gradients, day & night/night & day
-expertly done mouth flaps
The whole production oozes craft (especially when you compare it to other Netflix cartoons). If it didn't have CG bits, /co/ would be all up in its guts - FULL TONGUE!
