I really wanna know what's the timeline of Etheria.
The First Ones are supposed to be, well, the FIRST ONES to have settled Etheria, and yet Madame Razz claims that there were She-ra's long before them.
Does she actually mean it? What direction of time is "past" and "future" for Razz?
Where and when did she come from? Who are her people? Does she even have a people? Is she Solo?

When speaking with Light Hope, Glimmer says that the First Ones stole the magic of "her people". What thick ass is she pulling this from? Who the fuck is "her" people in this context?
Wasn't the implication that Etherians are distant descendants of the First Ones? I thought that was the case? If not, were Etherians here before, or after the First Ones?

Conversely, I don't think it was ever implied that Etherians descended from First Ones, perhaps most obviously by the fact that Adora was shocked to learn that she WAS a First One.

None of this really seems to indicate any connection, or lack thereof, between First Ones and modern Etherians.
If anything: I'm not sure whether when she says "us", "we" etc. she is referring to only herself and Adora, or to herself and other current inhabitants of Etheria.
From the "Signals" episode of season 3 we know that the First Ones led pretty regular lives, so it's possible that there were many civilians left when the portal opened, and they were left stranded on the planet - losing their culture, reverting to more primitive ways, eventually becoming modern day Etherians. Or, at least, the "human" race of modern Etherians, who knows where Scorpion-people and Cat-people come from.

Razz and Adora seem to assume she died. They place the pie on the chair and leave.
But Mara must have survived the crash and recorded more messages. She was likely unable to leave the ship, and either bled out or starved to death in there.

Concentrating all her attention on Adora was the wrong call to make from a strategic stand-point.

Which isn’t surprising considering that’s exactly what the actor they hired is like. The natives never count when a post colonial society is talking about the “first people” to settle an area. Just like how the old history books say Christopher Columbus was the “first” guy to “discover” america.

This part I don’t get though. I thought it was a big deal that Adora had to be pulled to the planet to be the new She Ra, because only a First One could do it. So how were there She Ras before the First Ones? And for that matter, did all those She Ras before Mara/the first First One She Ra have a sword? Was it a different sword from Mara’s, since the First Ones apparently made that one? I thought all the ancient artifacts in Bow’s dads’ house showed all the She Ras had the sword, and they had to have come before Mara because Mara was the last one before Adora.

I think there are a couple plot holes because the writers here were making shit up as they went along. I still like the reveal they settled with, but I don’t think everything in this show was perfectly pre planned ahead of time, and they made a few goofs that don’t work with the story they made.

Glimmer kicked a lot of ass this season, but this behavior was just immature. Yeah, it’s something Angella would do to Glimmer, but Angella would also say “because I am your mother as well as the queen,” and always put herself in an authority position over Glimmer and her friends, who she regarded as children. But Glimmer still considers Bow and Adora as her peers, and they’ve kind of been promoted to the position of her advisors now that she’s queen. Which means it’s really shitty leadership to just stubbornly dismiss them at every turn, and pretty much just yell at them instead of trying to present an argument and bring them to her side, or for that matter really listen and consider their sidebefore disregarding it.

Finally had time to gobble up the season. I have to admit I reached the point where I actually enjoy watching She-ra, not just because I love catgirl suffering. While we are at suffering Catra barely had anything in this season. She just went from A to B with a few bad scenes. In return the overall plot was very interesting. Double Trouble is awesome, too bad he got caught early.

After Shadow Weaver has gone she kept the Horde running on her own. Hordak doesn't really do anything in the present in the series except basement dwelling and coming up with some new stuff he can rarely make work.

The only thing I can think of she always wants to prove her worth to some adult figure and her endgame is (sub)consciously no2. However she not only hates weaklings but everyone who doesn't reward her. When Shadow Waver lost power Hordak was the next logical step, but she realized he is useless too. Maybe she was desperate because she always planned to bail on Hordak for Prime, thinking he may give her the well deserved no2 headpats.

We know that the First Ones made the sword to be a conduit for the HoE discharge, but the sword is not an integral part of being She-ra, as Razz said.
Light Hope needed a First One She-Ra for it to work, not just anybody Seeing just how much magiengineered the planet was, it's not out of the question that First Ones managed to block She-ra powers from manifesting in anybody else.

I think she's some magic anomaly that experiences all time in her location at once, but slips in and out of which time she's conciously in.

"Hordak" looked different from the beginning. He had dark hair and darker kohl around his eyes while he was still very much part of the Horde in the beginning. I'm willing to bet that Horde Prime liked the more free willed clone and made him a top general due to HP wanting someone to bounce ideas off of and the free willed clone was an asset, until Horde Prime realized the creature was starting to grow into something that couldn't be contained and that its ideas could infect the other clones.

HP was willing to deal with the unique clone, up until a point. And then Horde Prime induced a cloning defect to weaken and dismiss all of the unique clone's accomplishments and threw the creature into the meatgrinder of war as a grunt to humiliate the once top general even further.

Hordak actually giving himself a name and even further free will to the point HP couldn't remotely read his thoughts, seemed like a new ability.

I went through a few episodes of OG She-Ra after I binged the first three seasons of 2018 She-Ra in one week, both to get a more firm understanding of the world and also to feed my need for season four.

Season 4 was really good. I keep waiting for the show to grind to a halt in terms of quality and it hasn't happened yet. Maybe now that Horde Prime is in the picture and She-Ra is "gone" things might become too complicated for the writing staff to handle. They've done a really good job managing all the characters and stuff so far while keeping the plot relatively simple though.

I'd definitely agree that it had potential but they could have gone further. Entrapta almost being entirely unaffected by it during her time there, until she was in the central temple, kinda took away the impact. The whole spaceship being the thing to wake her up was hilarious but did nothing to add to the atmosphere.

Okay, just finished this thing and I gotta say, they really stepped their game up for this season.
DT was just delightfully devilish, Mermista was much better than the past few seasons, Mara's She-Ra form fixes every problem I have with Adora's, the Catra suffering train was out of control, Kyle and his squad got the spotlight for a bit.
Even Swiftwind got a chuckle out of me for once.
It almost feels like this is a completely different show from the first season.

Death doesn't necessarily mean suffering. If Catra were to actually die in this show, she would do so finally having accepted herself, and doing something she really wanted to do. She would go out as a hero.

That being said, I doubt this show is interested in making one of the biggest mistakes it could ever make by killing off one of its most popular characters.

Not necessarily so he can save the day, but so Adora can get some closure about who she is/understanding of her past. Like... at this point the First Ones are kinda being shaped up as exploitive dicks who'd damn an entire planet for a single Shot Death Star. Knowing she has a brother who's possibly as insecure as she is, but is still trying to do the right thing on his terms could bolster her into going further as a real hero.

She also still has Mara's ship, and assuming it doesn't get blown up in the remaining episodes, she now has the capacity to travel back where she came from, but I can't imagine she would use it in the middle of the series and bail on Etheria unless it's absolutely necessary to repair the sword and save her friends.

I just don't like Teela. I never have.
If by "strong independent woman" they pushed Queen Marlena, I'd be all over that. She was really cool.
Whereas Teela was a constant "I take care of myself! I'm strong, take me seriously!" Marlena never needed to prove herself. She was queen, and was content to be a ruler, but when the rare situation arouse that she needed to fight, she was actually able to look after herself (see the Rainbow Warrior episode, or the 2002 ep where she was fighting Snakemen)

She's honestly a hidden gem in the franchise. Teela and Sorceress kinda suck

Animation is good enough. It has very few moments when it looks odd. Since all the 5 seasons are already made I guess rushing caused mistakes. Characterization just starts slowly.
The main cast has good characterization. Except Spinnerella and her girlfriend but they got some too in season 4 after 3 seasons of just 5 voice lines combined.
Voice acting and the character design is great. The show gives me all I like in terms of character design. And some of the VAs are just great for their roles.
All the stuff you mentioned can be applied to the old She-Ra.

I gave old She-Ra a fair chance. It's okay, but only the background art and music had any real love and care put into them. The original was literally just a toy commercial made for little girls made by a toy company. Nothing wrong with liking it, since I loved Pokemon as a kid and it's also a commercial cartoon, but did you guts actually watch She-Ra as kids? Did it even play anywhere after the original run?
