>>111125424It’s less fat acceptance and more body positivity. It careens off in to fat acceptance because people like to bully fatties, and bullying bullies is a-ok.
The weird thing is you never see anyone struggle with their weight. Like do you know why I’m fat? It’s because I live a sedentary life and eat big portions of garbage food, because garbage food is cheap and labor is expensive. You know what happens if I control what I eat? I spend a good hour a day just meal planning and figuring out what isn’t loaded with calories and what has enough protein the first thing to go isn’t my muscles, leaving me feeling weaker than when I started, and if I’m not getting the right vitamins random things start fucking up.
Even when you do start dropping the pounds, you know what happens? None of your clothes fit, and suddenly THAT is an issue. You look like shit because all your clothes are now hanging loose, and you’re stuck buying a new wardrobe in sizes you aren’t used to, which may be temporary anyway since you’re not at your target weight and you may say “fuck it” and just go back to your previous lifestyle.
But let’s assume you stick with it and weren’t just losing 20-30 pounds. If you had to lose half your body weight, your skin is super fucked up because you’ve been a balloon person for years, and there is no fix for that short of surgery leaving you with a bunch of scars that make you look like Frankenstein’s monster, all sewn together. And that’s the best you can hope for.
Thing is, this isn’t an individual choice to be fat, it’s a systemic issue of sugary soda being more common than fucking water, the dairy industry wanting the world covered in ranch dressing, and parenting having gone so far to shit we leave state run schools to raise our kids from ages 5 to 18 at least 8 hours a day. Telling any one fat person to get their shit together is no more helpful than telling a smoker to quit.
