>>Dear Journal>>It was so cold today! The wind whips right through the whole castle and none of the fires did anything to help. Poor Pascal can hardly stay awake! When I went down to Cass's room to an extra sweater, it was an ice box! I could see my breath, and my feet stung from the chilly stone! I told Cass then and there that she was sleeping with me tonight!Cass turned beet red, (why was she embarrassed? It's not her fault her room is so cold!) and started to stammer about how it's fine, she can get another blanket, but I wouldn't hear it! No best friend of mine is gonna sleep in a frosty cave.
After her duties were done and we ate supper we went to bed. After we put my hair up we spent hours talking about what we've been doing, who we've talked to, and what we want. When time came for bed she started to set up some pillows on the couch. Cass, I told her, my room isn't much warmer than yours. We may as well share the bed and keep each other warm. She turned red again for some reason. People do this all the time in colder parts of the world.
We got under the blankets and got close. I must have been colder than I thought! She shivered when my legs touched hers. We talked a while longer, our voices low, our faces close enough to touch. So toasty. I woke up with Cass's head under my chin and her hand tangled up in my hair. She's so silly!
She had no duties for the day so we just stayed in bed until late morning, talking about nothing important. When we finally got out of bed for breakfast we found Eugene looking grumpy. He couldn't sleep because his room was too cold! I said maybe you could find a buddy to sleep with, and he and Cass both gave me a funny look
