>>111071775It has a lot of potential, but it absolutely did not live up to the hype.
I've watched it about 5 times trying to figure out what I don't like about it. Best I can figure is that a lot of the humor does not work. On my first watch I only laughed twice
("Son?!" and Tom on fire), but I did enjoy some parts that weren't necessarily funny. The musical numbers were ok, the characters were ok, the world building was ok.
Charlie is cute but occasionally flashes some raging demon shit, which was interesting. It's like she could go full demon in an instant is she gets worked up.
Vaggie is kind of one note but worked as a kind of overly protective girlfriend. But the mumbling and grunting in spanish was annoying despite only happening twice.
Angel's personality and design are over-the-top but it kind of worked. That said "sassy gay man" could easily become predictable and boring.
Alastor was somehow my favorite AND least favorite character. There's tons of potential here to do make a really interesting and funny antagonist. Crazy powerful and eccentric can really work well together. What I don't like about him is his design. They have the right idea (old-timey radio announcer) but they need to make him stand out from the rest of the world. He looks like someones lame ass furry OC donut steel.
Overall the art style needs to be toned down. There's too much going on with both characters and backgrounds. Preferably stop making every background character a fucking furry. Add more colors than just red white and pink to start with, and then simplify the designs.
I'd say this was a 5/10, but it has potential to be much better if they fine tune it.
