It was just fine when they were butting heads in science fields and the differences were cultural. Reed was the All-American “Progressive” and Doom was the European Traditionalist. Reed was all about moving forward and only forward, while Doom inserted the past into the future. It was a nice dynamic, but at some point it was cut off. Reed kept being the same, but Doom regressed. He started being a scientist first, a head of state second, an artist third, ..., and a magician last, and just became a full-time sorcerer who has some cool gizmos. I don’t mind him being a sort of Newton-like character, but that’s as far as he should go. Like I said, back in the Kirby issues the Castle looked “normal” but inside it was a maze of machinery and crazy tech. Now it’s just a castle with literal wooden tables in the dungeon. Doom’s losing his class and refinement as time goes on.
