Ideally you want the movie to be better than the myths, which they succeeded at because that isn't hard in the slightest because Greek Mythology is mostly crap. I read Iliad, Odyssey, Oedipus Rex, Antigone, and a bunch of little pieces and parts, and all it really did was make me want to jam Apollo and Athena's orifices full of switchblades because they never got any of the punishments they deserved for their meddling. Garbage like that is why Greek Paganism died out in the first place, because the Gods did not love humanity, only themselves and each other. The Gods represent the capriciousness of life and the tragedy you can feel when things go wrong, but it is not in humanity's nature to worship capriciousness. Making Hades evil wasn't wrong, he was already evil, just less evil than most of the other gods, what Disney changed the most was that they made Zeus good (seriously, fuck Zeus), which is an acceptable break since he's supposed to be on the protagonists' side (when originally he did not particularly like Hercules because he was an illegitimate child, and showered all his love on those evil brat Apollo and Athena) which is another acceptable break to make the movie family-friendly.
The people who believed and continue to believe the original mythology can fuck off, it's a shit religion that deserves to get stepped on.
