In the Doom universe, Hell is multiversal and Doomguy spent so long in Hell he’s showing up during the first invasion and destroying it from within, always choosing to return to Hell rather than stick around once he’s wiped them out. Doom 2016 was Hell dropping a fucking temple on him to contain him to finally invade a universe properly again, only for the humans that accidentally opened the portal to Hell like usual to set him free during the attack since at that point there’s no reason not to gamble on the thing in the stone box the Demons are terrified of for unknown reasons.
Hell as presented in Doom has no neutral Demons that we know of. Just infinite armies of destruction. The fact we see and read about them being afraid of Doomguy in Doom 2016 actually put to rest the debate on if Demons can even feel other emotions than hate.
Again, you are only able to spare/ignore this Demon because it doesn’t attack you. Since Doom has no friendly Demons nor has it shown Demons that show emotions such as love or sadness, we have no basis for comparison for how Doomguy would react.
Now, from the lore that Doomguy was a loner who never got along well with people and lived for his beloved pet baby bunny named Daisy, along with the clear anger and disgust that he shows towards the dismissive attitude of the scientists towards the dead civilians in Doom 2016, that Doomguy was antisocial but a humanitarian. Its not a stretch to say he wouldn’t be very warm and friendly to friendly Demons, but would probably go to Hazbin’s Heaven and go on a rampage there during the culling instead.
On a related note, all I want from this show is the Icon Of Sin to show up somehow as a background gag like a corporate logo or tattoo or computer screensaver or something.
