Honestly, about half way through the Cold War arc. It was clear by that point the producers had no intention of ever giving us the final battle between Capitalism and Communism that by all rights should have been the series finale. But, then they got renewed and went, 'well fuck, we have to keep going.' So we got that lousy non-finish.

WWII is a fucking cartoon, though. No nuance at all; the villains are all 100% evil, complete caricatures of humanity. The SS wear skulls on their uniforms, for Christ's sake; how much more obvious can you get?
The start of WWI might have been a little goofy, but it is by far, by very far, superior to WWII.
I guess they needed to dumb it down to bring more people in; shame.

I think one of the parts I don't get the most is how they retcon their own origin cataclysms. Like in one story they had it that they were all decimated by a meteorite or some sort, in another it was a volcano erupting, and then the other, the silliest one, happened with a lot of rain covering everything (as if there was enough water in the world for that). Let's see what other dumb retcon they make to justify their existence.

I liked the framing of the Rasputin episode. You know, how we got so many different versions of his death, almost as if the noblemen were trying to one-up each other. I think the most likely scenario was that they tried to poison him, it didn't work, so they just shot him dead. There are a few hints in the episode that support this version of the story as the real one.

To be honest, the episode kinda reminded me of the Nicholas Flamel episode, which is one of my favorites due to the ambitious ending. Well if it helps, part of the tale about the pyramids you can find in the same comic where >>110951616 happens, some of it has been made canon but other stuff is debatable at best. Nobody has bothered to fix that part of the lore really, though there's one dude who really keeps trying to retcon it (some Tsoukalos) by adding his own headcanon into it.

The whole Israel saga is really confusing because of the multiple translations it has. No one is sure what the greater implications of it really is. I like the Gnost translations because they’re the weirdest but I really wish they would just come out with an official unified canon translation for it

My favorite is a pretty minor one. Dude had his own mini-arc which concluded with him being the first Euro to step on Wisconsin after discovering Lake Michigan. Pretty standard shit, but the kino is in his theatrics. Guy wore a huge silk robe he got from China to go greet the natives when he first showed up in cheesehead-land, and as he stepped foot off the rowboat and onto the shore he shot his fucking flintlocks in the air like Yosemite fucking Sam, putting the fear of god (Jean) into them without uttering a word.
Not even an important sub-plot in the longterm, but still one of my favorites.

Essentially Jeanne was fucking fly reestablishing the monarchy being a walking miracle girl until the ETERNAL BURGUNDIAN menace decided to be relevant in the only way they knew how.
Jeanne is caught, arcs about her rescue or escape are teased but are just b8. Sent to England for a Papal Trial as the authors stand in tries to nail her for a Mary Sue, failing that a witch with a Demon pact buff. Eventually they get her for crossdressing.

Then a few episodes later that essential writer insert gets BTFO by those in charge of the Papacy plot, sent to bad writer jail. Though its not in their jurisdiction to resurrect or do away with this plot due to gay copyright laws.

What was the worst decision they made?
I think in hindsight the USA and Soviets not going to war right after WW2 was a mistake, I mean fuck if the cold war arc actually had a fucking resolution worth shit then fine but I was edged for decades with only proxy conflicts denied the post-Armageddon arc.

What we got was a team of writers saying fuck it we don't want to write this anymore, gg Yanks win.

I found the maneuvering in WWI much more impressive. The formation of the Hindenburg Line was amazing, specially how they pulled it off.
Also, it was hard telling who was going to win until the very end, unlike in WWII in which by 43 it was clear the Germans were going downhill.

"Whatever happened to the Zodiac killer???!" Story goes on for decades until evidence suggest we already imprisoned him at an old age but it's never fully acknowledged or it's left open ended

"WHO LEFT THE DEAD BOY IN A BOX?!"
Story arc could have concluded with the staggering amount of evidence this out of nowhere character M came forward with but it ends off with the police ignoring despite how much she said matched up with what only the police knew just because some neighbors said she was mentally ill???
Fuck kind of open ending is that?
