Even if the kid is not blood rated to the person in question them taking up there Parent's mantle, it still adds more to the character because they still have to live up to some sort of standard more so then some new hero with a new name.

If someone like Riri got to know Iron Man for a few years then becomes Iron Heart and then Tony says she is good enough and gives her the title Iron Man I would have been a lot more loving of the character.
