Watching episode 3, the one with the mammoths.
The opening is great and damn it makes you feel bad for the elderly mammoth left behind. Yea that happens to a lot of animals in nature, but still. Fang and Spear taking it down was kinda painful to watch, and Spear's respect at the end was still touching.
Is it the same herd doubling back to get revenge though? They left that old mammoth to die willingly it seemed, and now they're pissed about it getting killed? Doesn't detract from the story if that's the case mind you>>110666999
I think it's because the sequence is extended, and it's more of the initial kills that get those nice slow-mo shots. Those get the "OH SHIT BADASS" feeling but then when Spear just keeps going AFTER the monkeys start fleeing, the kills go from gratuitously awesome to pretty horrifying. You're spot on about the horror movie comparison IMO
