Truth be told, I think there's a lot in the episode that works. Mocking capeshit's tendency to turn into weird soap opera tier stories, and the whole premise felt like a weird sort of deconstruction of how modern cape stories try to be dark and edgy affairs, often killing characters off anti-climatically for the sake of milking cheap drama for easy sales, along with other good jabs at the genre strewn throughout.
However, it's just too sadistic, too focused on the shock value of its own concept, that it kind of forgot to include a cohesive narrative structure or even just funny jokes. Probably the worst part is how it just kind of ends on such a flat note, it felt like the writers had no idea where to take the idea.
