If the "OoOoO Darkness Reigns" was just for show and she was still going to let crops grow, have warmth from the sun and stuff then it could have been alright. She seems capable of just producing a golem labor force and using her magic for other beneficial means. Really if this just came down to "I want statues and praise" then sure.
If nothing else she was definitely good to those loyal to her.
