For the vast majority of comic readers, Wally is the Flash. The fact that since his return Barry really hasn't had the quality of work that writers put into Wally when he took the mantle and writers also took Wally's traits, dynamics, and relationships and slapped them onto Barry, has not really endeared them to Barry. Barry's basically been Miles Morales for a lot of readers.
