She was forced to turn yellow when the GL corps lost control of the universe to Sinestro.
When Hal beat Sinestro, she took over and tried to reform the Yellow Lanterns, forming an alliane with the Green Lanterns. Then after some forced drama, the alliance was broken, she went evil, presumably possessed by Parallax, and hasn't been seen since.

I'm pretty sure the whole point was to remove him from the corps, and place him back in his 70s era costume again so they can have that Challenge of the Superfriends look. No one involved gave a shit about explaining the powers as long as he wears the blue costume and had no sidekicks again.
