Our past is darker than our present and the chair is the symbol of that darkness. No pun intended at all here.
Have you ever seen a person throw a chair and think "oh this gentleman is just getting needed exercise?" no my good man, it is an expression of rage, and one type of rage that this chair symbolizes is made to spread rage like a disease.
tl;dr
when some one throws a chair a big fight breaks out. No one knows why persay but when a chair is thrown, everybody must get angry and have a massive brawl.
