>>109513817>Disney buys sony.I am sure this is a troll, but let's look at this realistically. Clearly Disney is not going to buy Sony. They're a huge company.
Sony Pictures, the movie division of Sony? That's a different story. They are a division of a company that has been in the red for some time. Sony has had many problems. Sony is a Japanese company and Sony Pictures is mostly in America. I just looked some of this up. I had forgotten it was Coca Cola who had owned Columbia / TriStar and this was when Sony bought them out. From there Sony expanded to buying MGM, which is how they got control of the Bond films.
Now they're not as big as Fox, but this might still go through some anti-trust issues. Especially so soon after buying Fox, Disney might be weary of trying another big acquisition. Then again, with Trump in the White House and so much Republican control of congress, they might be bolder with less worries of anti-trust action. Unless there is some big campaign connecting Disney's buyouts to Trump
Plus it all depends how the leadership of Sony in Japan is feeling about Sony pictures. If Sony thinks their motion picture division is dragging them down, I could see them trying to sell it off. From that angle, it depends how much Sony thinks movies are a hassle and how much they want to deal with them bleeding money.
Who knows? Maybe some Chinese company will buy out Sony Pictures ahead of Disney.
Aside from Sony Pictures, maybe Disney would just pony up and pay Sony enough to get the rights to Spider-man back. Again, it all depends how much Sony wants to deal with the risk and reward of making Spider-man films. How much does management in Japan want Spider-man vs how much Sony Pictures exsecs in America wants it. Then factor in how much Disney would be willing to pay to have Spidey under their house rule.
The whole thing is fascinating. I find it more entertaining than pretty much any of the recent live action Spider-man movies.
