It's really hard to separate the legitimate complaints from the basic internet hatedom, but all it comes down to is low-quality writing being caused by creators writing politically-charged stories. And when that low-quality writing is confronted, the politics are often used as a shield.
There's also the whole concept of fan demand. If a person just finds a straight romance story or something inherently more compelling than a lesbian one, are they wrong for voicing that opinion? What if you just legitimately don't care about trans stories? I feel like it should be acceptable for you to get angry if a bunch of cartoons suddenly start being about trans people. You have a demand which isn't being met. Just like you have a right to complain if a show's art style doesn't appeal to you, or you don't care for the setting.
Like let's be real here, the only real societal change that'll ever result from having 15+ lesbians in the main casts of cartoons from the past five years is that people are going to get tired of LGBT stuff. Maybe you'll turn a few girls gay because that's kind of just how female sexuality works, but nobody bases their political views on cartoons. They might remember the basic moral lessons you teach them, be kind, share, tolerate others, but I don't think it gets much more specific than that.
Just lay off it for a bit, guys. I know the writers are often queer and they're just writing what they know, what they like to write, but just slow it down a touch, you know?
