I have been in a Gobliiins rush lately, probably because of this show coming. Goo memories anyway.

I assume the train is moving in a circular fashion. There is no conductor, or One-One is the conductor with robot amnesia, going by how that face monster reacted to seeing him.

I kind of did. The only time I got stuck was because I thought I hadn't accomplished something I had actually done. I could actually move forward with the puzzle but didn't even try.

That's what I liked about the game. it felt much bigger and you actually forced to think your action if you didn't want to rely on brute-force. The humor that came with was enough to compensate for some of the more lenghty parts.

By making the game world so much bigger, they had to completely give up the unique mechanics of Goblins where the characters would do different things in the same situation, and some puzzles required you to control two or three of them simultaneously, so it became a generic point-and-click game. And as for the humor, the switch from a comedy duo/trio to a single protagonist with almost no character of his own also was a downgrade (I'll never get tired of the dumb gag where Fingus/Winkle would do something dumb and get hurt and the other would burst into laughter).

More scifi ish, but horror levels so far?
The first episode is
Tulip runs away from home and comes across the train ala Polar Express style. It states on a sign that its stop is where she's going, so she boards. Then she meets a miniature MultiplePersonalityDisorder version of Marvin from Hitchhikers Guide (it's fucking funny how nihilistic/dumb/innocent he is). They come to a car that has a weird lego grid room and have fun. Then she gets off and horror sets in. They're in some other landscape or dimension that looks like it got hellblasted by a nuke and she watches some other humanoid figure on the train get evaporated by a hauntingly slow trailing bolt of energy from the sky. She freaks out and runs out of the train, only to run into Silent-Hill levels of strange Cockroach Dogs that chase her and attempt to kill her. She barely gets away on the train, adamant about finding a conductor to get off properly.

That was kind of bad. Its too early the viewer to believe tulip has a meaningful relationship with one one. Speaking of the robot, its comedy feels really forced and shouldn't have been there at all. This whole episode was very boring and there was nothing for the viewer to get interested in.

pacing is kind of rushed, making it kind of weird how attached she is to this random thing she met that only sort of "helped" her a little bit. I guess the montage of random cars at the start implies they'd been together for longer than we've seen, but they still barely act like as good of friends that would make her care so much about it.

I think it had more to do with the fact that Tulip realized that she'd given away the only real ally she had in a completely unfamiliar and thoroughly frightening place. The "very personal gift for a very personal" friend line spoke more to OneOne's over-friendliness than to a deep bond b/w them and Tulip. Also pic related.

I think the problem is going to be that the show is going to try and answer every question. Garden Wall for example didn't bother answering every question and was able to focus on the characters development. This rushed character stuff has me worried the show is going to be 70% exposition and 30% awkward character development.

As for the episode. It was pretty cool but rushed. Wayyyy too much is going on and nothing we've seen is being established well. I like Tulip and One One but that episode would have worked a couple after this one when they would have known each other better. Tulip didn't even show that she cared about One One at all before this.

The first like 5 minutes, until she leaves her house, are pretty great. The rest feels rushed into establishing all the personalities and rules. The second episode is better overall but the character development is equally rushed.

Overall solid. Quality is on par with a mid-tier Amphibia episode, so frogs win for now unless the rest of the episodes blow my dick off

Episode 2 plot should be saved for at least episode 4. Tulip and OneOne's relationship doesn't feel strong enough for the kind of plot Episode 2 had. Everything was forced, and even the pacing in the entire series seems affected by that. Hope they fix that in next episodes, but so fat, it's a 5/10 for me.

People are going to go "duuuh amphibia doesn't have development." even though the show actually did a good job of having first hop pop, then the rest of the town slowly begin to respect Anne culminating in her becoming frog of the year. I think I like Amphibia more so far, mainly because it’s more grounded and straightforward. Infinity Train creates this world where pretty much anything can happen, which is fine for a series like R&M, where the main purpose is comedy, but when trying to tell a story in a mini series, it’s a bit messy. Amphibia creates this world where, while fantastical, has rules that are easy to understand.
Hopefully IT can fix some of these problems

Every main character has development at some point in the show. It's episodic (for now) but the consequences from every episode carry over. They make references about Sprig and Maddie getting married, which seemed like a one off joke, for the entire season culminating in an entire episode about it. That's all irrelevant if i don't feel anything when Tulip gives one one away. Its more important for the viewer to feel something than the character whos written to feel a certain way. Like I said before this could have worked but its really rushed. Take Beatrices betrayal in Garden Wall. The viewer is given time to see Wirt and Beatrice (and somewhat greg) develop a bond and then BAM! Beatrice throws it all out the window for herself. You're not given time to see Tulip and One One bond which makes her giving away mean nothing.

So I just saw it, 8 in 10, the style is unique instead of cal arts style, the backgrounds are beautiful, the main character personality is nice instead of the hyperative teenager with the mind of a pre teen like almost every other show nowadays, the premise isekai but pretty creative and unique instead of the generic "hurr a world filled with monsters that act just like humans" and that's it like Amphibia and Star vs .

I hope we get more shows like this.

This is addressed when Tulip drops a bunch of questions on One-One in ep 1, like this is the kind of show where the main character is aware enough to ask all that shit the second it happens, it's really refreshing how Tulip is trying to calibrate the situation. BUT she doesn't get anything resembling a proper answer back, so it's fair to assume she won't be asking One-One any questions seriously again. The next conscious entity she met was a con-artist Cat, not likely to have gotten a straight answer out of her so why bother showing it? If she meets another human she'll probably break out the 20 questions routine but hopefully that won't happen until late in the series, it's better to enjoy the mystery for as long as we can right?

The shuttle seemed like it’d be pretty secure against a dogroach attack, but I personally wouldn’t feel safe riding in Randal, even if he was going pretty fast, not to mention he probably didn’t want to get attacked by dogroaches either. Tulip and him were just temporarily sticking their necks out to get a job done.

I think the flower can hold more than one symbolism. It certainly can symbolize One One, because he seems like a really innocent guy. And, yes, it does echo the transaction she makes with the cat perfectly.

But I also like how One One says “look, Tulip! It’s you!” when he picks the flower, signifying that she herself is innocent.

Amphibia wasn't doing that much for me until the episode when Anne and Hop Pop became friends. Then it became my favorite cartoon of the decade.

This episode didn't really give any solid direction. OTGW episode 2 had wirt and greg meet Beatrice for the second time where she sets them on the path to adelaide's house. What happened here besides rushed character moments? There is no objective besides "lets keep going through these le randum funni cars" which is a really broad objective.

I'm talking more about the general trope, not just the specific Alice story. Alice is popular, but not so much the other western isekai that aped off it, while japan has no main isekai juggernaut, but rather several decently popular isekais, to the point a meme trend was borne of it.

These are the dangers of a miniseries, I don't remember OTGW having these pacing issues though especially because the situation seemingly didn't get truly dire til the big twist with Beatrice after several episodes of them being together already. Not starting with Tulip already on the train was a mistake, it forced them to mash the characters together before the plot can really kick off and we'll probably have to deal with it again tomorrow when Tulip meets Atticus.

I just watched the second episode. Love Randall and the cat. I like that the show has a lot of detail put into it and for this episode the pacing seemed more consistent than the first, though it's still a touch too fast. I don't mind it not setting a goal right away because we're seeing it from Tulip's perspective and she has no idea wtf is going on, with her only lead being a conductor that she doesn't even know how to reach.
Honestly my biggest complaint about the show is that I wish episodes were at least 50% bigger each.

As long as they can keep it constant I don't mind it being fast. In the first ep it starts slow and then accelerates very quickly so it feels jarring, but here it's more constant through the episode so you get used to it.

It´s not what car of the train she´s in because she went through a couple of them at the beginning of episode 2 and only came down one number.
It´s not how many passengers are on the train because when he saw a person get disintegrated, the number stayed the same.

That tweet was before this interview. Also where in that tweet does he say miniseries or that its finite? Cartoon Network wants the illusion of it being a miniseries because everything about it is supposed to be a mystery. Not much of a mystery if we're sure Tulip gets off the train on Friday, or if we know shes not because theres 2 more seasons announced pre-emptively.

iTunes also lists the first 10 eps as volume 1, it's clearly not a miniseries if you look beyond surface level.

Like i said that seems off to assume. So multiple people would have had to have died for her to go up in rank so many times while doing nothing. Meanwhile some one surpassed her rank during that time as well, which isn't hard to believe, but the fact Tulip only lost one rank but gained several while being inactive makes the notion hard to believe given many of the train cars were that perilous. I think you ought to think this some more before acting like a retard.
