I don't know. I say it was pretty justified.
Tulip's life was going to absolute shit relatively speaking, to no fault of her own. Simply because neither of her parents could keep their shit together. Which they of course have their reasons for, but it is still falling over hard onto Tulip who is in her formative years.
And I mean while she was no doubt super cross and sad with her parents, I didn't get get the impression that she like irredeemably hated them or something. In that moment she just found them to be super shitty parents.
I mean the way she resigned to her room instead of confronting her mother further, and did not make a mess of anything, is still kind of telling somehow.
But then she ran off on her own of course because that camp was super important to her and it's not as if her parents would help her. Irrational? Probably. But I wouldn't take it as a lack of empathy or anything.
