She only rejected him because she was in front of many of her "friends" and actually being nice to a nerd like Timmy would ruin her image so she just played it up and rejected him to kept her status quo (literally). She called him by name which was a big deal for her to show she remembers the buck tooth kid, and she even said "that's so sweet of you" when Timmy revealed himself to her what happened earlier in the show.
She cared, but she couldn't reveal it because it would kill her popularity.
