Ikki be blaze amaze
The animation was good, especially for a netflix series.
Honestly the story does sound interesting in the first ep.
The Japanese and South American voice actors did an adequate job.
Cons:
Dub super suck
The plot structure was absolutely terrible. There was seemingly little to no build up to events, no clear overall direction/theme/arc of the episodes or first season. It was just introduction and "events happen".
jumped right into one of the worst tournament arcs I've seen, which lasts for half the "season" and doesn't really pay off well. Fights were uninteresting and uninspired. First episode had a better fight, then all the tournament fights.
Dialogue was equally uninspired. Heavy on exposition and worse - repetitive or unnecessary exposition. Its a netflix series we don't need to be reminded every week like a broadcast show. Even kids can follow without it (and I don't even think this is geared towards kids considering they swear, such as saying "bastard"). They literally flashed back to 2 or 3 episodes ago after already explaining it! Magnus created an icewall to block an attack, then literally had to explain that he created an icewall to block an attack.
Nobody believes that the main characters are going to die in like episode 2 and 5 but the show does it anyway.
They immediately go into the shounen cliched "I have someone to fight for" but it doesn't feel earned after the first episode where he comes off almost like a prodigy and everyone keeps talking about how much they've heard about the "Pegasus Knight". He never once felt like the underdog, while constantly having an "underdog personality".
The Shun-> Shaun change was pure incompetence from a representation standpoint. Had a male character that was uniquely feminine and queer-coded, and turned it into a girl...because he was the "girly" one. So basically they wanted to give female diversity by creating a stereotype of "the pink, defensive/support saint is the girl".
